Keynote Speakers
Justin Stein
Justin Stein is a historian of religion and author of Alternate Currents: Reiki’s Circulation in the Twentieth-Century North Pacific, which analyzes the development of the Reiki healing system as an “alternate current” circulating between Japan, Hawai’i, and North America.
In his keynote address The Uncertain Status of Spiritual Therapies: Efforts to Resist Regulating Reiki in the US, Justin will lay out some of the legal challenges faced by Reiki and other spiritual therapies in the United States and look at historic and contemporary attempts to position Reiki in an exceptional category that enjoys maximal protection and minimal burden.
Helané Wahbeh
Helané Wahbeh, the Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University, will address Energy Medicine and How We See It: Explorations into the Mechanism of Biofield Therapies.
Panel Discussions
Four healthcare professionals — nursing school professor Yea-Jyh Chen, board-certified holistic nurse Kae Fink, Reiki provider Sandy Priester, and integrative oncologist Santosh Rao – will discuss their research, insights, and passion for incorporating Reiki into cancer care during the Reiki for Patients with Cancer panel discussion on June 1st.
Hearing their real-life experiences will leave you upbeat about the therapeutic value of Reiki.
Reiki researchers – Clinical Psychologist and Somatic Psychotherapist Sonia Zadro, Center for Reiki Research President Natalie Dyer, and Reiki Healthcare Research Trust Director Rosemary Pharo – will discuss their research and peer-reviewed studies that identify the benefits of Reiki in mental health care during the Reiki Research for Mental Health panel discussion on June 2nd.
Experiential Sessions
One of the not-to-be-missed conference highlights are the experiential sessions where you will receive beautiful healing Reiki energy from three renowned practitioners:
- Reiki Lifestyle’s Colleen Benelli will open the conference with the healing power of Reiki energy to awaken your inner light, higher mind, and pure heart for healing and empowerment for all.
- Also on day one, Helene Williams will guide you through the moving Connecting The Three Diamonds of Ki Meditation, which helps us connect and align the three Japanese energetic centers of the body: Earth Ki, Heart Ki, and Heavenly Ki.
